About Me

My Younger Years,
I have had the fortune of owning and being around dogs all of my life. Growing up all of our dogs had to be well trained and well exercised which my mother required as a minimum. I was always proud to have a well trained dog and would take my dogs every where with me, even to school on the odd occasion!
The Developing Years,
So my interest in dog behaviour stems as far back as I can remember yet my development in training has changed over the years as I have gotten older. I primarily have learnt from the dogs themselves and how they interact. This in turn has lead me to study through books and watching dogs together and analysing the body language. I have also gone onto study the mentality of dogs and the different behaviours they exhibit. This has enabled me to learn the difference between what is natural canine behaviour and what is learnt behaviour associated within the dogs environment.
The Invaluable Years,
I decided to put what I had learned into practise. I was still primarily training my own dogs and looking after other peoples dogs at my house I decided to start fostering dogs for Leicester Animal Aid which is where one of my own dogs Buddy had come from. This taught me so much because the dogs came to me with a range of issues so I was able to put my skills into practise and re-habilitate them, so much so I was taking on more complex dogs with bigger issues. The only dog that I did not feel was in a place to be re-homed was Wendy, so she became one of my dogs. In my previous house where we lived for 16 years we had 40 different dogs stay at my house (blog coming) for one reason or another with 7 being the most at any one time and many returning yet we only lived in a 3 bed semi-detached house and the dogs were not allowed upstairs and I did not use a stair gate, in 16 years and 40 dogs we did not have any fights.
The Resulting Years,
I started to get asked for advice about dogs many years ago. Following that my name started to be recognised and people would actually seek me out often after they had had a dog trainer visit them. So I started to charge people about 8 years ago. I still was employed in my previous job at the time. Following on from a long illness I came to the conclusion that I would follow my dream and do something that I am deeply passionate about which of course is to develop happy dogs and teach people how to do it. I hope you like my story.
All the best Phil.
